Ca’ Rezzonico, the eighteenth-century Venetian museum, reopens to the public

Ca’ Rezzonico, the museum of the Venetian eighteenth century, reopened to the public on Wednesday, June 28, after restoration and functional adaptation works. The works mainly involved the first floor, the part of the public reception services, ticket office, book shop, bar, and checkroom, which needed a complete rethink after the 2019 acqua granda.

The Ca’ Rezzonico Museum first opened to the public in 1936 when the City of Venice, after a long negotiation, managed to acquire it from the previous owners who had made it their home.

In terms of the visitor route, the reopening will be an opportunity for the public to admire new masterpieces. In fact, the permanent collection will be enriched with works kept in storage and from acquisitions recently donated by private individuals. The restoration of the collections of the Gabinetto of the Fondazione Musei Civici di Venezia, housed from 2021 precisely in the mezzanine of Ca’ Rezzonico, also continues. It will thus be possible to visit a renovated museum that looks to the future without giving up its history.
Finally, starting next July 14, Ca’ Rezzonico will host the exhibition Lino Tagliapietra. The Origin of the Journey, which until September 25, 2023 will retrace nearly 80 years of artistic glass production by the Murano master.
