Architecture Exhibition – La Biennale of Venice 2018 “Freespace”

The 16th International Architecture Exhibition focuses on the question of space, the quality off space, open and free space.” – says Paolo Baratta, president of the Venice Biennale – “that can be generated when the project is inspired by generosity.” A continuous interpretation of space in all its forms that give life to a set of works that reveal the essential qualities of architecture: the modulation, the richness and the materiality of the surfaces, the arrangement and the arrangement in sequence of the movement, showing us the intrinsic wonders of architecture.

Yvonn Farrell and Shelley McNamara are the two curators of the international exhibition, which will take place from 25 May to 26 November 2018 at the beautiful Arsenale Gardens and in the various locations scattered between the historic center of Venice and the Island of St. Giorgio Maggiore.

The two curators, known in the world as Grafton Architect, the name of their architectural firm, have used the Freespace manifesto for the development of the entire exhibition, to which was added the commitment and passion of the 71 international participants who contributed as professionals to the whole project. There are 6 countries participating for the first time in the Architecture Biennale: Antigua & Barbuda, Saudi Arabia, Guatemala, Lebanon, Pakistan, and the Holy See (with its own pavilion on the island of San Giorgio Maggiore).

“It is our hope that the word FREESPACE allows us to burrow into the aspirations, ambitions and generosity of architecture.” – confessed the two curators.
